Silent Hill F

Silent Hill F is an action and psychological horror game that reinvents the legendary saga, taking you to an isolated village in 1960s Japan. In Silent Hill F, you control Hinako Shimizu, a teenager who must survive all kinds of horrors she will encounter on her path. Your goal is to solve the mysteries haunting the town of Ebisugaoka, which has been invaded by fog, grotesque visions, and monsters born from trauma. The script is written by the Japanese novelist Ryukishi07 and accompanied by a soundtrack composed partially by Akira Yamaoka, the composer of all the saga's titles.

A new setting: Ebisugaoka (Japan) in the 60s

For the first time in the series, the action moves from Silent Hill to Japan, taking you to the remote and fictional Japanese village of Ebisugaoka. Japanese architecture, nature, and customs permeate the setting, breathing a true breath of fresh air into the saga, which might remind you of titles like Project Zero, known for its references to Japanese culture. On your journey, you'll have to walk through the rural environment and the foggy streets, gradually getting to know Hinako's emotional scars.

A dark storyline and personal stories

The plot revolves around Hinako and the disappearance of her brother following the arrival of the fog, triggering in her all kinds of feelings of loneliness and guilt, while she has to face creatures that bring her innermost fears to life. The decisions you make throughout the story and the puzzles you complete influence the gaming experience, but not the main story. In addition to this, you'll notice changes to vision or enemy perception in each setting depending on Hinako's level of stress or fear. If you stay in one place for too long, those levels will skyrocket.

Combat mechanics and weapons

In Silent Hill F, you can get on hand-to-hand combat with all kinds of weapons. The first one you get is a metal pipe, which is common in the saga, and then you'll get others like bats, knives, or scythes. You have to time your moves well and gauge the reach of each strike in battle to ensure that you don't get hit and also that you inflict the maximum possible damage on your enemies. You can perform weak and strong attacks, dodge offensives, and execute counterattacks when the moment allows for it. The "Focus" system slows down time and expands your reaction time, allowing you to plan each move, apply additional damage, and survive in critical situations.

Scarce resources, management, and exploration

Resource management is very important in Silent Hill F, as ammo and supplies are limited, and some can be traded for advantages. This is why it's important that you explore every inch of the rooms and the environment to find weapons and resources that will help you survive.
